Anyone know of great places to travel within 5 hours of Cincinnati...?
A couple of co-workers (female) and I would like to go on a mini-weekend-vacation next Spring. It needs to be within 4-5 hours of Cincinnati. We all go to Gatlinburg all the time and are just looking for something different to do....Any ideas?

Columbus Zoo and Aquarium; concerts/events in The Ohio Theatre, Lincoln Theatre and/or Palace Theatre in Columbus; Wexner Center for the Arts on the OSU Campus and/or major concert events at Lifestyle Communities Pavilion and the Germain (Polaris) Amphitheater in Columbus, if the latter is back in operation.

Chicago, Indianapolis. OK, Chicago is probably 6 hours, but I would recommend Megabus. It's clean, it's reasonable, it's on time and you're riding with good people. www.megabus.com

Starting up north and going clockwise. Toledo (see the Mud Hens), Put-In-Bay / Cedar Point, Cleveland (Rock 'n' Roll HoF), Pittsburgh, rafting or skiing in WV, Red River Gorge, Cumberland Gap (make a quick side trip going to GMS), skip Gatlinburg and hit the GMS, Great Smokie Mountains (maybe more about 6, but worth it), Biltmore Estate in NC, Knoxville, Chattanooga (see Rock City), Louisville (lots to do there), I think you can make St. Louis in like 6 hours), Indianapolis (again, lots to do there), Chicago, Detroit, Windsor, Canada, Point Pelee

Many great answers here but one missing - Nashville TN. If you can swing a few days at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel it will be worth it, incredible place. It has to be one of the largest hotels in the world with some pretty fantastic lobbies, one big enough to have a river and a riverboat that travels through! I'm not a big country misic fan but since the movie "O' Brother Where Art Thou?" came out they have focused more on the roots of country music, and the history is fascinating. And this is a little south of Cincinnati so might be slightly warmer too. Another musical place is Detroit Michigan. While this may not seem like a vacation place it does have the Motown Museum. I have not been but two people that I know that have rave about the place. You could combine this with Toledo which is a nice city - I particularly enjoy a group of restaurants in Oregon, Ohio across the river where you have great views of the city. Check out The Great Seafood Company there, one of the best dining experiences I have ever had, just wonderful.
